What is your role at Plankbridge?
I am a hutmaker and I am always happy to work on any stage of the hut build. At Plankbridge we are given the opportunity to follow a hut from start to finish so that we know all the stages of the build, right from the initial chassis build to the final checks before delivery. I like this philosophy because it means never being on the same task for too long and I love learning to do new things. I sometimes work in the forge, making hooks and brackets and I’ve just started to help out making the lead window trays which means learning to weld lead. I’ve also done some deliveries and on-site work which is always interesting.
Do you have a favourite shepherd’s hut model?
We’ve built some amazing huts, but I think I’d choose a smaller Cabin with a log burner, king-size bed and kitchen. It still feels like a traditional shepherd’s hut but with all the modern touches you need. Maybe a Snug next door with drums in too!
What is the best thing about working at Plankbridge?
It’s a great team of craftspeople to be around, there’s always someone who will help you out if you’re not sure of the best way to do something and it’s a great environment to learn in. I also love seeing all the dogs every day and of course the end of month bbq.
What are your favourite colours from the Plankbridge colour chart?
I really like the dusky blue of Coppice Smoke
What do you do in your time off and weekends?
I do a lot of music, I’ve played the drums since I was a teenager, still recording and gigging regularly. I’m a keen motorcyclist too. In the evenings I love to cook pizza, curry and vegan dishes for my partner Claire at home.
Favourite place to eat locally?
7Bone burgers in Bournemouth is brilliant. Worth a visit!
